Facts about Phyto!

These three microalgae are essentially the "building blocks" of an aquaculture food chain, each offering a different nutritional profile. They can be used individually, or in conjunction with one another to fuel your reef tank with a diverse spectrum of essential nutrients to aim to replicate the oceans natural biodiversity.

Nannochloropsis (Nanno) – The most commonly found strain due to its hardiness and the ease of which it can be cultured. It is small compared to other strains (approximately 2–4 microns) and is a dense green colour when healthy. It is highly lipid-rich, particularly in EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) which is a crucial omega-3 fatty acid, serving as a foundational nutrient for coral growth, polyp extension, and the overall health of many marine organisms.

Tetraselmis (Tetra) - Another dense green strain, similar in appearance to Nannochloropsis, but larger in size (approximately 10-14 microns) and not as robust. It has a higher overall nutritional value as it is high in protein content, high-quality amino acids, and high in carbohydrate levels. Because of its larger size, it is great as a food source for filter feeders and larger organisms like copepods. It provides the protein and carbohydrates needed for structural growth for many marine organisms.

T Isochrysis (T Iso) – The “gold” standard of the three. Golden brown in colour and medium in its size (approximately 5-8 microns). it is much more delicate and harder to culture, but it is the highest in nutritional value. It is rich in DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which is a critical omega-3 fatty acid that the green algae (Nanno and Tetra) mostly lack. It is another great food source for filter feeders and copepods and has been known to support higher reproduction rates for copepods and other marine organisms.

Keep your bottle of phyto refrigerated to extend its shelf life.

Recommended dosage – 10ml of each strain per 100L of tank volume daily.
