Heliofungia Corals Collection

Premium Heliofungia Plate Corals for Reef Tanks in Australia

The Heliofungia Corals Collection features high-quality Heliofungia actiniformis, a striking long-tentacle plate coral highly valued in reef tank setups. Known for its extended flowing polyps and vibrant movement, this LPS coral creates a dramatic focal point in saltwater aquariums. Available for sale Australia-wide, each specimen is WYSIWYG and selected for health, extension, and colour performance.

Flowing Tentacles and Dynamic Reef Movement

Heliofungia corals are admired for their long, anemone-like tentacles that extend fully under stable reef lighting and low flow conditions. Colours range from neon greens and purples to vibrant browns with fluorescent tips, making them a standout feature in any LPS coral collection. Their movement adds natural fluidity and contrast to structured reef aquascapes.

Best Suited for Stable, Mature Reef Tank Systems

Heliofungia coral requires low to moderate flow, stable calcium and alkalinity, and careful placement on sandbeds or flat rock surfaces. They are best suited for intermediate reef keepers with established saltwater aquarium systems. With proper care, they become long-term display corals that elevate the visual impact of any reef tank.

Express Shipping & WYSIWYG Coral Assurance

All Heliofungia corals for sale Australia-wide are shipped using express overnight delivery with temperature-controlled packaging. Each coral is inspected for full polyp extension, tissue health, and colour vibrancy before dispatch, ensuring premium WYSIWYG quality for your reef aquarium.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

please follow the path for success!

  • A very common mistake is treating Heliofungia like a normal plate coral (Fungia spp.), but it is much more sensitive and delicate.

    This leads to issues like:

    • poor survival in average reef conditions

    • slow decline even when parameters look “fine”

    • failure to inflate or extend tentacles

Heliofungia needs more stability, gentler conditions, and better feeding support than most plate corals.

  • Heliofungia is often placed on sand beds but exposed to too much movement or turbulence.

    This can cause:

    • sand constantly covering the coral

    • tearing of long feeding tentacles

    • inability to fully extend and capture food

It performs best on a stable, low-flow sand bed area where it can remain undisturbed and fully inflate.

  • Unlike many easier LPS, Heliofungia relies heavily on active feeding, especially in modern reef tanks.

    Common mistakes include:

    • relying only on light

    • irregular or no feeding routine

    • feeding too large or infrequent meals

    This results in:

    • gradual shrinking over time

    • reduced tentacle extension

    • poor long-term health

It does best with small, consistent feedings of meaty foods or fine particulate coral foods.
