Leptastrea is often grouped with more “fussy” LPS like Acanthastrea or Micromussa, but it’s actually quite different.
A common mistake is over-managing it, leading to:
unnecessary frequent feeding attempts
constant repositioning to “improve colour”
chasing lighting changes
In reality, Leptastrea prefers stability over intervention and can slowly decline if constantly adjusted.

While it’s hardy, Leptastrea can suffer in ultra-low nutrient tanks where there is little available dissolved or particulate food.
This can result in:
very slow growth or stagnation
faded or dull coloration
poor polyp extension over time
It performs best in balanced systems with measurable but controlled nutrients, not ultra-ULNS setups.
