Bubble coral prefers low to gentle, indirect flow, but many hobbyists place it in stronger current thinking it will “keep it clean.”
In reality, high flow causes:
bubbles to deflate or retract
tissue stress over time
reduced feeding response
damage to delicate vesicles
They do best in a protected area where water movement is soft and random, not direct.

Bubble coral is more aggressive than it looks. A common mistake is placing it too close to other corals.
At night, it can extend long sweeper tentacles that:
sting nearby LPS and SPS
damage tissue over time
create slow “war zones” in mixed reefs
It needs significant spacing, especially from other fleshy LPS like Euphyllia or Acanthastrea.
