About the Coral Beauty Angelfish (Centropyge bispinosa)

The Coral Beauty Angelfish is one of the most popular and stunning dwarf angelfish species, featuring a vibrant combination of deep purple-blue body with bright orange to red vertical stripes and accents. This beautiful fish brings both color and personality to reef aquariums. As one of the hardier and more reef-safe dwarf angels, Coral Beauties are excellent choices for aquarists looking to add angelfish to their community tanks. Their manageable size and relatively peaceful temperament make them accessible to intermediate aquarists.

Care Requirements

  • Tank Size: Minimum 190 litres (50 gallons), though larger tanks are always better
  • Diet: Omnivorous - requires varied diet including marine algae, spirulina, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and angelfish preparations. Benefits from nori sheets
  • Water Parameters: Temperature 24-27°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025
  • Feeding Frequency: 2-3 times daily with varied foods
  • Experience Level: Intermediate - requires varied diet and stable water quality

Tank Compatibility

Semi-aggressive and generally reef-safe with caution. Compatible with most peaceful to semi-aggressive fish. May show territorial behavior toward other dwarf angelfish or similar-shaped fish. Best kept as single specimen unless tank is very large (450+ litres). Generally reef-safe but individual specimens may occasionally nip at LPS corals, zoanthids, or clam mantles - monitor behavior. Most specimens are completely reef-safe. Safe with most invertebrates. Excellent community fish when given adequate space and hiding spots.

Fun Facts

  • Color pattern varies significantly between individuals - some show more purple, others more orange
  • One of the hardiest and most reef-safe dwarf angelfish species
  • Can live 10-15 years in captivity with proper care
  • May develop a "harem" structure in very large tanks with one male and multiple females
  • Juveniles and adults display similar coloration
  • Native to the Indo-Pacific region

Special Care Tips

  • Feeding Variety: Offer varied diet including both meaty and algae-based foods for best health and coloration
  • Acclimation: Use slow drip acclimation (45-60 minutes) as they can be sensitive to parameter changes
  • Hiding Spots: Provide plenty of rockwork with caves and crevices - they appreciate secure hiding spots
  • Reef Monitoring: While generally reef-safe, monitor for any nipping behavior on corals - varies by individual
  • Territory: Establish territory quickly - best added after tank is established but before more aggressive fish
  • One Per Tank: Keep only one dwarf angelfish per tank unless system is very large
  • Color Variation: Color intensity and pattern varies - each fish is unique

Please be aware that variations exist within species, so your item may not precisely resemble the provided image. The size range of individual specimens is approximate and may vary. Any extraordinary fish size will be explicitly specified.
